Erin Krakow thrills fans with her portrayal of Elizabeth Thornton on Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart. In this exclusive interview, Krakow explains what she does in-between takes, teases Season 7, and reveals what day of filming she would most like to do again.
How do you like to kill time when you have a long wait on location?
I’ll usually spend the time in my trailer working on our scripts and preparing for upcoming scenes, or I’ll call my family, read a book, or watch way too many videos of peoples’ auditions for America’s Got Talent.
I’m a big fan of watching people realize their dreams. But then I’ll suddenly notice I’m tearing up watching them and that’s usually when I have to put the phone down and clean myself up.
Wouldn’t want to ruin our lovely makeup department’s work!
If you could make wallpaper for your phone of a single Hope Valley set, what would it be?
Probably the view down Main Street.
How does it make you feel to picture viewers having emotional reactions to the Season 6 finale?
It makes me feel great! I feel honored that our fans continue to be so invested in the stories we’re telling and the relationships we’re developing on screen.
I’m looking forward to everyone’s reactions as our Christmas movie and Season 7 unfold.
What is something Elizabeth likes about Lucas Bouchard and Nathan Grant?
Elizabeth likes how Lucas is full of surprises. He’s always coming up with ways to make her happy. He’s also an excellent listener who cares about Elizabeth’s passions in life.
Not to be outdone, Nathan is also a great listener. His gestures might not be as grand, but Elizabeth knows he really cares.
She likes that Nathan is good with children. They share a bond over parenting and moving through loss.
Give fans a teaser about Elizabeth’s romantic choices this upcoming season.
We’re going to see a lot more of the pickle Elizabeth found herself in at the end of Season 6.
Nathan and Lucas start to make their feelings even more apparent and Elizabeth is left wondering how she will ever choose when the last thing she wants to do is hurt either of them.
What is one of the values from Hope Valley you hope fans try to embody in their personal lives?
Kindness and acceptance.
What are three words or phrases that best describe Season 7?
Friendship.
Romance.
Emotion.
If you could go back in time and re-do a single day of filming for the sake of nostalgia, what would it be—and who would you want to be there for it to be perfect?
Such a wonderful question! It makes me so nostalgic to think of what my answer might be.
As a slightly less than decisive person though, this is a tough one for me.
I don’t think I can choose a scene or day from the past, because it would exclude all of the wonderful new people who make up the fabric of WCTH.
If I HAD to choose though, maybe the very first day of Season 1.
It would be beautiful to relive those moments.
