I recently covered a petition to renew Hallmark’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” for the Deseret News. Although the petition unexpectedly dropped during the network’s busy Christmas schedule, they cheerfully made time to provide comment for a tight deadline.
Portions of an interview with Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President for Programming & Network Publicity, were included in the article. The full text of her comments are as follows:
What makes “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” so popular with fans?
“Signed, Sealed, Delivered” is beloved by fans and is a testament to the beautiful stories created by Martha Williamson, who is arguably one of the best writers in television. Martha creates characters that are complex and richly-layered, and leave wanting more. We are also lucky to have been able to cast this beautiful series with incredibly talented actors; they make every episode a joy to watch.
What is the renewal status of the show?
We don’t currently have additional episodes on the 2019 schedule, but the last episode, “To The Altar” was very highly rated. “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” will always have a home on Hallmark because we have 10 two-hour movies and 10 episodes of the one-hour series and when a network is fortunate enough to be paired with Martha Williamson, you never say never.
What would you like fans to know about your awareness of their efforts?
We are so grateful that fans found “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” and that they have been so faithful and dedicated to it and the talented cast and crew. Hallmark has the greatest TV fans of any network. We know how lucky we are to have such a devoted fan base for “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.”
One reply on “Hallmark executive Michelle Vicary comments on ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ petition”
We want Hallmark to know that we have loved every episode of “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” It is all things people have written about it plus it is sincere, smart, depth of character and story, each unique from the other. We also laud it for being clean, free of smut, graphic violence and sex, and all that is degrading about much of today’s TV. We can watch it comfortably, enjoying the story. Each episode is unique from the others, each teaching honorable ways of being in this world. So much better than the formulaic romances. Martha Williamson knows how to tell a powerful, meaningful story without yielding to today’s warped standards. Please bring us more episodes/movies of this wonderful show. We are two fervent fans living in Utah: Sharlee Doxey and Lynne Boren
