Who is Andrew Walker?

Andrew Walker: I got started in acting when I was in elementary school back in Montreal. I was in a lunch-time drama program, then my teacher started an agency and began sending me out for auditions.

My dad would take time off work to drive me downtown Montreal to audition, then I booked my first audition when I was 12 years old and I immediately became addicted to the industry.

When I turned 20, I decided to jump in a car with a fellow actor friend of mine and drive to LA, that was 20 years ago.

You received a football scholarship to Boston College and were sidelined by an injury. How did you handle that trial?

Andrew Walker: At the time is was a very difficult setback to come to terms with. However, when I look back now, that trial has not only made me a stronger more resilient person, but also saved me from potentially a few more injuries.

When you are faced with challenges in life, you have to look at the possible opportunity it could potentially be presenting. Mine was an acting career and building a life in California, which also lead me to my wife and to opening a cold pressed juice company. That said, I would not take back any of my football years, I love the game and who it has made me today.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of your guest spot on When Calls the Heart?

Andrew Walker: An incredible cast of people I got to work with, and a really fun character I rarely get to play in other projects.

What made Nikki DeLoach an enjoyable co-star in A Dream of Christmas?

Andrew Walker: How genuine and authentic a person she is.

Nikki is very easy to connect with and she and I also try to dive deep into our on camera relationship.

What is the shortest amount of time you have ever had between getting hired and starting filming?

Andrew Walker: I wrapped Wedding March 4 on a Friday in Vancouver, and started shooting Love in Design in Winnipeg on the Monday.

An ideal timeline would be two months between projects so I can spend time on the script, and most importantly a little time with my family in between projects.

Who is an actor you have worked with who is a pro at breaking the ice with everyone on the first day?

Andrew Walker: Bethany Joy Lenz and Nikki Deloach.

What makes a good—and bad—extra?

Andrew Walker: I think background performers are sometimes underappreciated in how key a role they play in the the quality of the film.

A good background performer will be engaged in the scene and also listen to direction.

Its also important they hit a mark and pretend to talk with other background performers around them in the scene to bring life to the environment.

What is it about the Hallmark brand of media that attracts such a loyal and passionate fan base?

Andrew Walker: I feel so fortunate to be a part of such a wholesome network who continues to break the mold. They continue to launch new networks, new seasons of films and storylines, which keeps fans loyal while also building in popularity.

Considering how many films and TV shows they do a year, Hallmark maintains a high level of quality.

I say each film I do is a chemistry experiment, because even though a lot of the same actors work on these films, I always experience a a unique journey with a different actress.

People don’t have to worry about the content, the entire family can sit down and watch a film without covering your kids eyes and ears and the message is always a positive one.

One of your fans, Caroline Richardson, asks, “What role has been your favorite to play?

Andrew Walker: HI Caroline! Thanks so much for tuning into my films.

I loved playing Chase Taynor in The Perfect Catch with Nikki Deloach.

I’m not really a baseball fan, but playing a professional athlete was definitely a highlight for me.
